Weaving Rainbows in the Himalayas

In the advent of increasing social and environmental awareness in business activities, there has been a strong momentum for social entrepreneurship activities. An increasing number of startups have identified social problems and needs; and many entrepreneurs today have utilized their invaluable skills to solve those problems. In the social enterprise sharing session, we are honored to have the presence of a variety of social entrepreneurs throughout Asia who come from very different backgrounds, but are united by a common goal: turning their society-centric ideas into reality. Our sharing session, together with the Social Enterprise Booths, will consist of interesting perspectives on giving back to society, that even small groups of people can make a huge difference.

Since its inception in June 2014, Ana by Karma Social Enterprise has lifted 70-odd weavers from no/little income to become financially stable. More importantly, it helped these women gain respect from their spouses, family, and social community. In addition to introducing innovation and technology to the heritage weaving art of these women, Quin conducts financial literacy and basic business skill trainings as part of the empowerment program. www.anabykarma.com
